Updated 8:50am: Auckland Mayor Len Brown is under fire once again, with hidden rooms in his office suite being dubbed "a bad look".
Mr Brown is still recovering from the fall-out of his affair with Bevan Chuang including revelations the two had sex in the mayoral office, and other council rooms.
Now the Council has moved into new offices on Albert Street, and the fit-out included a private bathroom and a dressing room for the mayor.
They're both hidden behind hinged bookshelves which swing open.
A spokesman for the mayor has told NewstalkZB the rooms aren't hidden, despite the use of hinged bookshelves instead of a door.
The spokesman says the facilities replace similar ones at the old office in the Town Hall, and bringing all council staff under one roof will end up saving ratepayers 100 million dollars.
Councillors unimpressed
Other councillors aren't impressed.
Sharon Stewart says the mayor shouldn't have secret rooms in light of what's happened before...while Linda Cooper says Mr Brown should have understood how the rooms would be perceived.
Affordable Auckland leader Stephen Berry says the Council is already dealing with a budget blowout, and it's a totally inappropriate use of money.
"It sounds a little bit creepy to be honest and when you consider his history with the Bevan Chuang incident, quite frankly, what was he thinking?
"It's a really bad look."
Howick councillor Dick Quax says it's a bitter pill for Auckland ratepayers, with some having just seen their rates go up by 40 percent.
"What the Mayor requires is a working space and not a play space."
