Updated 6.05pm: A groundbreaking class-action civil lawsuit looks set to be taken against New Zealand cladding manufacturers.

Auckland lawyer Adina Thorn is calling on owners of leaky-buildings, be they residential or commercial, to register their interest in joining the action.

She expects the lawsuit will seek damages of more than $100 million dollars.

"It's probably going to be the largest action against cladding manufacturers, if not one of the largest civil actions in New Zealand."

She says building owners have nothing to lose by registering.

"There's no cost at all in registering or at any stage of the process. All of the legal costs and other costs such as experts would be borne by the international funder."

Adina Thorn is seeking international funding from a litigation funder, to cover all legal costs.
