The sky above Lake Tekapo has been declared some of clearest in the world for stargazing.

Booking.com has endorsed San Pedro de Atacama in Chile as the best stargazing spot followed by Lake Tekapo, which also took out the number one location in New Zealand.

Earth and Sky general manager Margaret Monroe says anyone passing through needs to look up and appreciate the night sky and many people around the world don't have that opportunity.
