A review of the resource consents which almost saw a kauri tree felled in Titirangi has found everything was above board.

But it does recommend changes to how local boards and iwi are involved in such cases.

The west Auckland tree was saved after heated public protest and debate in March.

A report on the review into the consent process will be seen by Auckland Council's development committee on Thursday.

It recommends improving communication with iwi and local boards over consent applications, and more training on implementing the Waitakere Ranges Heritage Area Act.
