
The makers of New Zealand's first commercial jet-pack have enough financial backing to move into production quickly.
The Martin Aircraft Company is expected to begin trading on the Australian Securities Exchange today.
Its jet-pack, which can travel up to 75 kilometres-an-hour and almost a kilometre high, will cost up to $150,000.
CEO Peter Coker says $27 million was raised during the Initial Public Offering.
"What that means is you can use that funding to move towards a commercial product very very quickly.
"A lot of private companies spend a lot of time trying to raise capital. We've managed to raise that capital."
Founder Glenn Martin told Newstalk ZB's Mike Hosking other companies are trying to do similar things but they're well ahead of the game.
"Things coming down the RnD pipelline will keep us well ahead for a very long time.
"Obviously we've spent a large amount of money on protecting our intellectual property through patents around the world, so we've done some unique things that other people can't copy."
