A man has been seriously injured while trying to stop people stealing his vehicle in Auckland this morning, police say.
Officers were called to a report of a burglary at an address in Bacot Pl, Howick just before 7am.
“The owner of the vehicle was hit as the offenders left the scene, in attempt to prevent the burglary.”
The owner of the stolen vehicle suffered serious injuries, police said.
An ambulance and manager were sent to help the man, who was taken to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition, a Hato Hone St John spokesman said.
Police are now making inquiries in an effort to find the offenders.
