More should become known today about how a couple ended up dead in their Waipukurau home.

Two bodies were found at the home just before 9am yesterday after police received information from family members.

The house was heavily guarded last night as forensic investigators worked to determine the cause of death.

Neighbours said the couple were quiet and mostly kept to themselves.

Police said it's too soon to speculate about what happened, and would not say if they were searching for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

A spokeswomen said it's likely the names of the deceased will be released today, once the next of kin have been informed.
