A homicide investigation has been launched after a man died in New Lynn, Auckland this afternoon.

Police and paramedics were called to Kaponga Cr at 11.53am after a report a person was injured.

A man died at the scene.

Acting Detective Inspector Simon Harrison, of Waitematā CIB, said one person was taken into custody at the scene.

“As such, Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to this matter.

“We would like to reassure the community that this appears to be an isolated incident.”

Harrison said a scene examination is under way.

“The community can expect to see an increased Police in the area while further enquiries are carried out.”

Police will provide further details around the victim’s identity when they can.
