One person has been rushed to hospital after getting trapped on an escalator at Henderson railway station.
The station closed for nearly an hour, causing delays for Western line services, while emergency services rescued the person.
Auckland Transport said the station was closed just after 2pm “due to an incident requiring emergency service responders”. It reopened about 3pm.
Police were called in to help with crowd control, a police spokeswoman said.
One person was taken to Auckland Hospital in a moderate condition, a spokeswoman for St John Ambulance said.
An ambulance and rapid response unit went to the Henderson railway station on Railside Ave about 1.12pm, a St John spokeswoman said.
Fire and Emergency NZ was at the scene, a police spokeswoman said. Further questions were referred to St John.
While trains bypassed Henderson, buses ferried passengers to the station.
Bus routes 14W from New Lynn and 146 from Swanson and Ranui were available for passengers en route to Henderson.
