The taxi driver injured in an unprovoked, violent attack in east Hamilton has been unable to return to work.

The 45-year-old was attacked while he was sitting in his parked cab early hours on Tuesday morning.

He needed dental and medical treatment as a result.

The man, who doesn't want his name used, says the attack has shocked him, his wife and his three children.

He's asking for anyone who may know anything about his attacker to contact police.
