Hamilton dairy owners are appealing to the Police Commissioner to urgently provide all their shops with fog cannons.
The dairy owners fear for their safety after two were brutally assaulted with weapons as thieves stole cigarettes and cash from them earlier this month.
Those are just the latest in a spate of Hamilton dairy robberies.
Parkwood SuperValue owner Manish Thakkar says the newly set up group represents superettes, liquor stores and service stations in the Hamilton area.
Mr Thakkar says they have sent Police Commissioner Mike Bush a list of 85 retailers who want the fog cannons, asking him to make the Waikato a priority.
Eligible shops have to pay just $250 for a $4000 fog cannon with the Government picking up the rest of the bill.
