Boys are earning more than girls for putting out the rubbish, doing the dishes and setting the table.
The finding comes from a Cartoon Network survey of 520 New Zealand parents and children, which shows boys get more pocket money than girls for the same chores.
On average, boys are getting $460 dollars a year in pocket money, gifts and pay for chores.
Girls get an average of $396-dollars, and receive significantly less money in gifts.
In total, New Zealand children fleeced their parents of about $257 million last year, down from $312 million in 2013.
