Four people were injured, one seriously, in a car crash at Okato in Taranaki last night.

Police said the single-vehicle crash occurred on South Rd at about 8.25pm. One person sustained serious injuries, and the other three people were moderately injured.

South Rd is on State Highway 35, which runs on the western side of Taranaki. The accident occurred at Okato, about 26km southwest of New Plymouth.

Police said the road was closed following the accident and reopened about 10pm.
