Delivery company Flirtey wants to test drone food deliveries in New Zealand, starting next year.

Company chief Matt Sweeney says the plan is to perfect the technology here before rolling it out globally.

Mr Sweeney says they're still ironing out the details with the Civil Aviation Authority and the Ministry of Transport, as well as potential clients.
