Former All Blacks halfback Byron Kelleher has been found guilty of domestic assault and fined in a French court.

Kelleher, who played 57 Tests for the All Blacks between 1999 and 2007, was fined 200 euros ($NZ300) for the incident in Toulouse last June.

The 40-year-old had allegedly been drinking with friends and then was involved in an incident where a woman was attacked and a door damaged, L'Equipe reported at the time.

Toulouse-based La Depeche reported that Kelleher's lawyer described the event as a lover's quarrel.

Kelleher has previously faced charges of drink-driving in 2013, and in 2009 was given a two-month suspended jail term and fined 3500 euro for driving under the influence of alcohol and violent behaviour from an ensuing fight.

The latest court appearance continues a string of incidents involving high- profile New Zealand rugby players in France.

Former All Blacks lock Ali Williams has been charged with purchasing cocaine outside a nightclub over the weekend. He is expected to face a Paris court, and has been provisionally suspended by his French club Racing 92.

Former first five-eighth Dan Carter, in his second season at Racing 92, faces drink-driving charges after being pulled over by police near the Champs-Elysees two weeks ago.
