The prisoner who escaped custody while on a hospital escort in Auckland has been caught.
A 42-year-old man previously sought for escaping custody has been arrested, police said in a statement released today.
Police issued a warrant for the arrest of Paul Kyle Peekay Rehua after he escaped custody during a hospital visit in Auckland on November 7.
He will appear in North Shore District Court today, charged with escaping custody.
Police thanked members of the public who contacted them and provided information.
The prisoner from Mt Eden Corrections Facility had been on the run for almost two weeks.
At the time of the incident, the prison’s acting general manager Edith Pattinson said police were informed immediately and were searching for him.
