A person has died following a crash in Wairākei yesterday evening, where a car hit a tree.
Police were alerted to the single vehicle crash on Poihipi Rd at 7.25pm, a spokesperson said.
The driver was the sole occupant of the car.
The Serious Crash Unit has examined the scene and the death will be referred to the Coroner, the spokesperson said.
