It's known as the world's brightest 5km run, but the Auckland Colour Dash is also helping kiwi families in need.
The event which involves throwing colourful dust onto runners along the track, will be giving half of funds earned to Ronald McDonald house.
The event has already raised around $100,000 dollars for the charity and Ronald McDonald House CEO Wayne Howett says this will make a huge difference to the 3,500 families they work with.
"One-hundred-thousand is about the equivalent of one-hundred-and-fifty families staying with us, on average for about seven nights."
Howett said it's great to be part of an event which not only earns revenue, but is fun for all involved.
"And the colour dash is a really great family, fun orientated event. It's something a little bit different."
The Colour Dash will begin at 9am this morning.
