
Selwyn residents can expect to see a large police presence in rural Canterbury where a man was found dead on Saturday.
Emergency services were called to Grange Road about 3.30 Saturday afternoon, where the 28 year old local man died.
Police have revealed a firearm was used in the incident and the victim has gang links.
They have now revealed that man was found on the side of the road by members of the public.
Detective Inspector Corrie Parnell says the scene examinations are ongoing.
"There are a number of scene examinations currently under investigation. These are on Grange Road and Telegraph Road."
Parnell says they are following positive lines of inquiry. though they remain in the early stages in the investigation.
"A number of vehicles that have been seized are under guard. We will work through the complex scene, over about three km's at this stage."
Parnell says they have a number of witnesses.
"If you have information about any member of the public or anyone close to you that you have heard that may be involved in this incident, and indeed those that are responsible, I urge you to come forward."
He says they hope to release the man's name today.
