More than $4,000 has been raised on a Give-a-little page set up by the Christchurch City Council to help the Japanese city of Kurashiki that was devastated by floods.

The flooding and landslides in Christchurch's sister city have resulted in 46 confirmed deaths, nearly 4,000 people in sheltered evacuation centres, with 7600 homes totally flooded.

Kurashiki has a 45-year relationship with Christchurch, and their people raised more than $20,000 for the Garden City after the 2011 quake.
