Canterbury police are considering a no cruising zone for Governors Bay and Banks Peninsula in an effort to curb the area's growing boy racer problem.
Around 60-residents met with police on Monday, to express their anger at the speeds on the community's narrow roads and the noise boy racers are creating.
Senior Sergeant Scott Richardson says police are looking at what rules can be changed to address the problem.
"We've had prohibitions now put in place in various places around the city. As boy racers move into new areas it's something we'll need to look at in each area."
Scott Richardson says police are increasing patrols in the area, and will look at changing the speed limit.
