The Christchurch City Council has approved a proposal to put a cycle lane across the entrance and exit of Christchurch's new bus interchange.
That's despite grave concerns put forward by ECan, with fears cyclists would face a serious risk, because bus drivers might not see them.
In the midst of a heated debate, Councillor Raf Manji says the current proposal simply won't work.
"I cycle all over the place and I actually think one of the great things about cycling is the freedom.
"I just want to make sure they're not going to get knocked off and this has been a big gridlock."
