The Christchurch City Council is monitoring a park that has tested positive for asbestos.
The council says they've fenced off sections of Kyle Park in Hornby where the asbestos was found.
The city council's parks manager Andrew Rutledge says they now need to cover the affected areas to make sure the asbestos doesn't get into the air.
"We're going to put a remediation process in place quite quickly and then we're going to continue to monitor it to make sure there's no further risk to the public," he said.Â
But, Mr Rutledge says people shouldn't be concerned. Â
"The area is completely fenced off. Â Unless they willfully want to try and break through the security fencing there's no way of getting into that space."
