A Christchurch woman has taken it upon herself to launch a class action against IAG Insurance.

Pip Coory has been battling with the company over the past year after her home was finally ruled over-cap by EQC.

In a bid to get action, she's launched a Facebook page gathering members for the class action - which has already amassed 250 people.

She says the treatment from IAG is literally ruining lives.

"Couples end up breaking up, elderly people here that are sitting in their homes waiting for them to still be made water tight; children that don't know anything other than the fact mummy and daddy are being ripped off.

"These are things that are actually affecting the community."

Corry is stunned at the amount of traction her Facebook page is gaining.

"I think there was about 50 people that came onto the Facebook page last night and that was before this morning.

"They're coming in like drones at the moment. There's a lot of people that have been treated like this."
