Templeton residents are dismissing complaints to the council about their No-Quarry signs.
Christchurch city council confirms it's received two complaints from the public about the signs and is investigating.
Templeton Residents Association Chairman Garry Kilday says it's ridiculous, it's just a ploy to distract from the main issue which is the quarry.
He says the signs are on their own fences, if you put a sign on a power pole or public property then that's an issue, but if you put it on your fence you can do what you like as long as it's not offensive.
Mr Kilday also says they were told they may be fined if the signs don't meet regulations.
He says he wont take his signs down and why should he if they are on his house.
The council cannot comment further as it is a current investigation.
