Strategy and Sustainability Manager, Rhys Boswell said, on average, flights into the city will be two-minutes shorter.

"If you apply it over a number of flights a day every week of the year, it does amount to a significant overall saving."

The airport also announced it will be aiming to make less noise and emit less carbon dioxide.

Two weeks ago the airport released its plans for how it wants to look in 2040, with plans for terminal expansions and small runway extensions for bigger aircraft.
