A young child was pulled from the water and given CPR by a member of the public after nearly drowning in Raglan.
Surf Life Saving NZ said it was notified by Hate Hone St John at 4.35pm yesterday that a 4-year-old was rescued from the water near the Raglan campground.
Surf Life Saving Raglan lifeguards rushed to the scene on an ATV with medical equipment.
The patient received CPR from a member of the public until the lifeguards arrived, before being flown to Waikato Hospital in a rescue helicopter.
“We sent one transporting ambulance, one helicopter and one primary response doctor to the scene,” a St John spokesperson said.
The status of the patient was unknown, but they were taken to hospital “on board the helicopter”.
Police were not called to the incident.
