A body has been found in Field Peak area of the Tararua Ranges late this afternoon.

The victim’s name will be released once the family has been notified.

Police Search and Rescue Coordinator Sergeant Andy Brooke said it's been sad day for search teams.

Rescue parties have been looking for a man who's been missing in the ranges since early this week.

Police have yet to confirm whether it is the same man.

Inquiries are continuing and more information will be released when it becomes available.
