A man and woman have been taken into custody after crashing a stolen lawn mower into a fence and then trying to flee the scene in Hastings.
Police were called to the intersection of Southampton St West and Charles St at 10.30am on Monday to reports that a lawnmower had crashed, causing damage to the fence.

A police spokesman said the pair were caught on Southland Rd near Oliphant Rd about 10.45am where they were taken into custody.
One person was then taken to hospital following a medical event after the crash.
