A scheduled flight from Auckland to Tonga is expected to go ahead as planned this morning.

The 7:30am Air New Zealand flight is dependent on conditions remaining favourable after the eruption of the underwater Hunga Ha'apai volcano.

It's one of several extra flights planned to deal with a backlog from cancelled flights.

300 people have been impacted by flights being cancelled due to large plumes of ash.
