A well-known Auckland mountain biking park will be closed for two days after the death of a rider today.
Woodhill Mountain Bike Park, in the north-west Auckland area, posted the news to Facebook this afternoon.
“We are very sad to share that a rider has passed away at our park today. Our thoughts are with their family and friends at this difficult time,” the statement read.
“The park will remain closed for the next two days. We will reopen on Thursday. We are also taking this time to support our staff and our riding community.”
Hato Hone St John told the Herald they attended with three vehicles. Police said they were aware of a report of a sudden death about 1.20pm.
“There is nothing to suggest any suspicious circumstances and the death will be referred to the Coroner,” a spokesperson told the Herald.
