The waterfront Downtown Auckland Ferry Building has been evacuated after smoke was seen, amid strike action by the New Zealand Professional Firefighters Union.
Smoke was seen coming from the downtown ferry building on Princess Wharf at around 12.30pm.
Ferry passengers and emergency services are currently gathering in front of the iconic Auckland building on Quay St, near the Commercial Bay shopping hub.
A Fullers360 staff member told the Herlad there was a fire inside the ferry terminal building.
Smoke could be seen wafting out of a window from an upper floor earlier, the staff member said.
Several people in high-vis were seen redirecting ferry passengers away from the terminal entry.
Two fire trucks have arrived from Waitakere and Laingholm, along with two police cars.
The members of the New Zealand Professional Firefighters Union (NZPFU) are striking for one hour from 12-1pm.
Police and Auckland Transport have been approached for comment.
