Auckland Council says it's worked hard to manage kauri dieback - but it can't stop people from using the infected Waitakere Ranges, at least for now.
Concerned residents say the ranges were packed over the Easter weekend as people ignored the rahui put in place by the local iwi.

Council hasn't yet confirmed a full closure will take place - the final vote will be held on Tuesday next week after a recent consultation period.
If it goes ahead, the majority of the ranges will be closed on May the first.
In the meantime, Auckland Council's biodiversity manager, Rachel Kelleher, is urging the public to help them out, and follow the rules.
"Council is certainly doing its part to manage the disease but we actually need the public to get onboard, to make sure they are paying attention to those closure, that they are cleaning their shoes."
