An Auckland church that's giving sanctuary to nine Indian students who are facing deportation say they have done nothing wrong.
They're among 400 whose visas were cancelled last year after education agents were found to have submitted fraudulent bank loan approval documents.
The board of Ponsonby's Unitarian Church has voted unanimously to support them and let them use its building.
Reverend Clay Nelson said the church thinks the students have been caught up in a bureaucratic tangle.
"That involves a lot of, frankly, exploitation of our international students and migrants."
Clay Nelson said Immigration officers could come at any time to arrest the students and deport them.
