UPDATED: 2.44PM Community meetings are being held in Auckland following a string of attacks against Asian migrants and students.

Two Chinese women, two Japanese women and a male Chinese student have been the victims of four brutal assaults in just the past week.

Teenagers have been arrested over two of the incidents, in which victims were punched and kicked and had items stolen from them.

Auckland mayor Len Brown is set to meet with police and other agencies to discuss what can be done to address the issue.

Whau Local Board deputy chairwoman Susan Zhu said some Asian Aucklanders are feeling unsafe on their own street.

"It's very visible. We see a lot of things happen, and windows get smashed, and people feel unsafe in suburbs as well," she said.

Zhu said it's a citywide problem and the whole city needs to be part of the solution.

She said Aucklanders "actually need to help each other" and come up with ways to shift young people away from crime and racist violence.

Councillor Arthur Anae has asked council official what they'll do to address the issue which could have broader implications on the city's international reputation.

A council official said the issue will be covered in research on crime in the CBD being carried out over the next few months.

Council staff are also holding monthly meetings with Auckland University and AUT to discuss crime affecting students.
