Two people have been taken into custody after armed police responded to a firearms-related incident in Counties Manukau.

Members of the Armed Offenders Squad were seen racing to Māngere and up to 16 police cars gathered at Henwood Road.

Police were on the scene from just before before 2pm with the Eagle helicopter circling above. The scene has now been cleared, with an investigation continuing.
