Armed police are at Avondale Primary School this afternoon.
When the Herald phoned the school, the receptionist said officers were standing right in front of her.
“Do you want to speak to the New Zealand Herald,” she asked the officers. After a short conversation between them, the receptionist told the Herald “it is all under control”.
A witness said the police were armed and described at least 10 police cars on Crayford West St in Avondale, Auckland about 3pm.
Police have been approached for comment.
