Police have arrested a man who has allegedly been spitting at residents in the Auckland suburbs of Devonport and Bayswater.
Waitematā East Area Prevention Manager, acting Inspector Tim Williams, said police were aware of the man’s actions during the past two months.
“Today we located a person of interest walking on Wairoa Rd in Narrow Neck and he was promptly arrested.”
The man allegedly spat at officers while being arrested.
The 40-year-old Belmont man is due to appear in the North Shore District Court tomorrow.
Williams said the man would face three charges of common assault and one count of resisting police.
“Police will oppose the man’s bail when he appears in court given concerns for community safety with this man’s alleged behaviour,” he said.
“Spitting at people is not only an unhygienic practice but also constitutes an offence.
“It’s pleasing that our staff have been able to hold this man accountable.”
