
A man is in custody after a police vehicle was rammed during a fleeing driver incident in Christchurch this morning.
At 10.25am, police on patrol saw a vehicle with no registration plates travelling at speed on Marshland Rd.

“Police signalled the vehicle to stop, however, it failed to do so and fled from police,” a spokesperson confirmed.
“Thankfully, no police officers were injured, however, a police vehicle was damaged in relation to the incident.”

Police later located the vehicle abandoned on Parnwell St.
“Following a search in the area, Police swiftly located a man on Kingsbridge Drive,” said the spokesperson.
“He was taken into custody without incident.
“Police have also seized a firearm allegedly located in the vehicle.”
Police have not confirmed whether the man has been charged.
The damaged police car was removed from the scene just before midday.
