The All Blacks have opened the Rugby Championship with a commanding 39-18 win over Argentina in Christchurch.

New Zealand's outscored the Pumas five tries to two, with the All Blacks scoring three tries in a 10 minute spell either side of halftime.

Captain Richie McCaw scored New Zealand's first try in his final test in Christchurch, with Ma'a Nonu crashing over deep in the first half to give the hosts a 18-6 lead at the break.

Charles Piutau and Kieran Read dotted down early in the second-half to extend the All Blacks' advantage to 32-6 before Pumas captain Agustin Creevy scored twice to restore some Argentinian credibility.

Young Crusaders hooker Codie Taylor crossed on his test debut in the 72nd minute to clinch the victory.

Dan Carter converted six of his nine shots at goal, kicking two penalties and four conversions.

The All Blacks will now head to Johannesburg for next week's test against the Springboks.
