The All Blacks have again shone through in a mixed weekend for their southern hemisphere rugby allies.

They've wrapped up their series against Wales with a 36-22 second test win in Wellington.

Israel Dagg scored the lone first half try for the home team in his 50th test match, while Ben Smith, also in his half century crossed in the second half, as did Beauden Barrett,, Waisake Naholo, and Ardie Savea.

The Welsh scored two tries late in the match.

All Blacks coach Steve Hansen says after being locked 10-all at halftime, they showed big improvement after the break - and improved generally after the first test at Eden Park.

"I think we had them under pressure at times in the first half and either dropped the ball or threw away a lose pass or made a poor decision, so it was about creating pressure and then keeping it on them for long enough periods to take advantage of it," he said.

"We scored five good tries and any time we do that in a test match you've got to reasonably happy with your attack play. We defended really well for long periods of time."

Hansen says reports on first five Aaron Cruden are all clear at this stage after he was stretchered off injured.

Cruden went in to contact with a couple of Welsh forwards and appeared to go down awkwardly in the 32nd minute.

Referee Jaco Peyper stopped play as Cruden was tended to in the middle of the field, and play did not resume for several minutes while Cruden was taken from the field via medicab.

The five eighth has a history with injuries. He missed most of the 2015 Super Rugby season and the 2015 Rugby World Cup with a serious knee injury.

Meanwhile England picked up its first ever series win in Australia with a 23-7 win in the second test in Melbourne, taking an unassailable 2-nil series lead.

South Africa has fought back from 16 points down to beat Ireland 32-26 at Ellis Park to level their series at 1-all.
