Five people have been taken to Tauranga Hospital after a crash on Turret Rd.
Emergency services were called to the crash at midday.
Hato Hone St John said three ambulances, one rapid response unit and one operations manager attended.
“Five patients were taken to Tauranga Hospital in total,” a spokesperson said.
“One person in serious condition, two in moderate condition and two in minor condition.”
Police said the crash had blocked the southbound lane of Turret Rd.
A reader has reported that the road is now open and traffic is flowing again.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said it received a report of a car crash on Turret Rd at 12.04pm.
One person was trapped, and crews worked with hydraulic rescue equipment to release the person before Hato Hone St John took over, he said.
