A new joint venture looks set to give the Maori agribusiness sector a boost.

Leading meat producers' co-operative Silver Fern Farms and the Federation of Maori Authorities have signed a Memorandum of Understanding today.

It's hoped to provide further opportunities and benefits to Maori dry stock farmers.

Federation CEO Te Horipo Karaitiana says they'll be focusing on developing farming systems.

Of the 950,000 hectares of productive rural land in Maori hands, two-thirds of it is in pasture supporting dry stock operations.
