From Thursday 16 April, Newstalk ZB’s 1080AM frequency will be off‑air for up to two weeks while some essential maintenance work is carried out on the transmission tower at Henderson.
If you listen to us on 1080AM, you’ll need to make the switch to 89.4FM on your radio to stay with us.
You can listen online using the free iHeart app on your phone, computer or smart speaker.
All your favourite shows, hosts and regular programming will continue as normal while the work is underway, and we’ll be back on 1080AM as soon as it’s finished.
Why will 1080AM be off-air?
The northern tower (which Newstalk ZB’s 1080AM frequency broadcasts from) at the Henderson AM transmission site is being dismantled, and a new transmission tower is being erected on the same site.
This work is expected to take up to two weeks to both dismantle and put up the new tower.
I read that the transmission site is being sold?
The southern tower on Lincoln Road is also set to be dismantled, however the site owner has made the decision to not replace this mast and sell the land.

I can’t get 89.4FM where I am?
If you can’t get Newstalk ZB Auckland on 89.4FM, you can still listen to us online via iHeart, or by asking your smart speaker to “play Newstalk ZB Auckland on iHeartRadio”
