Queenstown's Coronet Peak has opened today.
The ski area has had 15 centimetres of natural snow over the past two days.
Ski manager Ross Copland reports early snowfalls have created a great foundation for them to build on.
"Typically on opening day at coronet peak we'll have upwards of 2000 people here on the mountain largely made up of keen Queenstown locals and season pass holders."
Copland warns the forecast is chilly so punters should come prepared.
"It's going to be quite cold and gusty up here so wrap up warm if you're coming up. The good news is that we've got snow predicted to 400 metres."
Mt Hutt's ski-field has also opened today.
