The driver of the Shotover Jet boat that crashed into a rock yesterday has been stood down.

A 12-year-old girl is in Lakes District Hospital with back injuries after the jet boat she was in crashed into a rock, four others were hurt, but not seriously.

Shotover Jet manager Clark Scott says it's standard procedure to stand the driver down.

He says the driver will be stood down until they complete the investigation.

Clark Scott says the driver wasn't under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
