The search for missing Upper Hutt woman Mary Berrington has this evening been suspended.
Berrington was reported missing on Wednesday and since then Police, Land Search and Rescue teams, and community volunteers have carried out an extensive search surrounding the missing woman's home on Fergusson Drive, Upper Hutt.
“A large number of people have worked tirelessly over the last four days to try and find Mary and bring her home to her family," said Detective David Mason said
“An exhaustive search effort has been carried out and we have now completed searches of all reasonably possible areas where Mary could be.”
He said he spoke with Berrington's family this afternoon.
“They are understandably hugely disappointed that Mary has not yet been found, they are immensely grateful for the efforts of the search teams and the support provided by the wider Upper Hutt community.”
Upper Hutt Police now say they will continue with a missing person investigation and they are still keen to hear from anyone who may have seen any sign of Berrington.
Anyone with information that may be relevant is asked to contact Upper Hutt Police on 04 527 2300.
