Rotorua District Council is postponing tomorrow's scheduled hearing on submissions on the draft policy of psychoactive substances.
It follows the government's announcement on Sunday night that existing legal psychoactive substances will be removed from the shelves within two weeks.
Rotorua mayor, Steve Chadwick, says they're delaying the hearing to give them time to see what the government's proposed changes will mean and what impact the legislative amendments will have on regulations and council policies.
She says the council will still need to proceed with the development of its Local Approved Products Policy because some products may come onto the market later, when regulations for manufacturing have been adopted.
