Police are cracking down on illegal street racers in Hamilton.
On Friday night police targeted racers across the city and issued 55 tickets, impounded three cars and suspended eight drivers.
Acting Waikato Road Policing Manager Inspector Dana McDonald says illegal street racing is dangerous and they won't tolerate it.
"The vehicles might be illegally modified. They're happy to drive the vehicles unsafely doing burn outs, sustain loss of traction and putting them and other road users at risk."
