A glimmer of hope for workers at Goodman Fielder's Hamilton plant.
The company announced earlier this month, it would sell the business to Hellers, which has offices in Auckland and Christchurch, and result in the loss of more than 100 jobs.
But a meeting held in Hamilton yesterday between community leaders from across the spectrum revealed there are opportunities for the jobs to be saved.
Hamilton-based Labour MP Sue Moroney says a fresh bid for the company has been brought to the table.
"What we do know is that the new bid does involve keeping the factory and production and keeping local jobs and that's what's important to the community."
